2.4. Synthesis of 2-benzimidazoles derivatives using ZnO NPs as catalyst
General procedure: In a typical procedure, aldehyde (10 mmol) and o-phenylenediamine(10 mmol) was dissolved in 10 ml ethanol. To this 0.5 mol% of ZnO (4.1 mg) nanocatalyst was added to the solution. The mixture was sonicated at a room temperature (25 °C) with ultrasound irradiation for 10 min. After completion of the reaction as indicated by the TLC, the reaction mixture was poured in ice cold water. The solid was filtered and the product was washed with water twice, dried and then purified by recrystallization from ethanol
