What is the use of pheniramine maleate?

Pheniramine Maleate is the maleate salt form of pheniramine, which is a first-generation antihistamine. It is widely used to treat various allergic conditions, including hay fever, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and allergic reactions to insect bites or stings. Additionally, it is sometimes used with other medications to relieve symptoms such as itching and hives associated with allergic reactions.

Mechanism of Action

Pheniramine Maleate is an alkylamine derivative with antihistaminic and vasodilatory properties. Side effect

Pheniramine maleate is frequently involved in overdoses. It has antimuscarinic effect causing tachycardia, dilated pupils, urinary retention, and dry flushed skin, and decreased bowel sounds, confusion, mild increase in body temperature, cardiac arrhythmias, and seizures at lethal doses. It has not been implicated as an important cause of rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury (AKI).
