To the solution of 3-bromo-4-methylaniline (0.45 g, 2.42 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was added NaH (60%, 0.5 g, 12.5 mmol) and MeI (1.5 mL, 24.0 mmol). The reaction was heated at 80.0 for 12 hr before it was diluted with EtOAc (20 mL). The solution was washed with H2O (30 mL), dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated. Column chromatography gave 3-bromo-N,N,4-trimethylaniline (0.44 g, 85%).
