4.2. General procedure for synthesis of ketones (2a-2k)

General procedure: To a stirred solution alkyne (1 mmol) in acetone (3 mL) and water (0.1 mL), TsNBr2 (1.5 mmol) was added. After 10 min, KI (0.6 mmol) and Na2SO3 (3 mmol) was added and stirring was continued at room temperature. After the completion of the reaction the reaction mixture was washed with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried with Na2SO4, concentrated and purified by flash chromatography on silica gel (230-400 mesh) using petroleum ethere-ethyl acetate as eluent.
