Acetonitrile synthesis

15synthesis methods
Acetonitrile is mainly prepared by dehydration of acetamide (CH3CONH2) with glacial acetic acid (Turner 1950) or by reacting acetic acid with ammonia at 400-500°C in the presence of a dehydration catalyst (Anon 1978).

Reaction Conditions:

with N-(4-sulphonic acid)butylpyridinium hydrogen sulphate;C9H13NO3S*2H3NO*H(1+)*HO4S(1-) in para-xylene at 120; under 760.051 Torr; for 2 h;Catalytic behavior;Green chemistry;Temperature;Time;

Steps:

1-6 Example 1

Acetaldehyde (3.6 mmol),1-sulfobutylpyridine hydrogensulfate ionic liquid hydroxylamine salt (5.4mmol)Add to a 100 mL three-necked flask,Add 4mL 1-sulfobutylpyridine hydrogensulfate ionic liquid and 8 mL of p-xylene, stirred,Reflux condensation, at atmospheric pressure,The reaction was stopped after reacting at 120 ° C for 2 h.The reaction solution was cooled to room temperature.Take the supernatant directly into the gas chromatographLine analysis,The result of the reaction is that the conversion of acetaldehyde is 100%.The yield of acetonitrile was 100%.
