Yield:120-44-5 115 mg

Reaction Conditions:

with sodium sulphide nonahydrate in N,N-dimethyl-d6-formamide at 20; for 0.5 h;Inert atmosphere;chemoselective reaction;

Steps:

General dihydroxylation procedure:

General procedure: To a solution of -hydroxyl carbonylcompounds 1 (0.5 mmol) and PPh3 (0.5 mmol) in dry DMF (2.0 mL) under nitrogenatmosphere at room temperature, followed by the addition of NCS (0.5 mmol). Theresulting reaction mixture was stirred for 0.5 h and Na2S·9H2O (0.5 mmol) was thenadded to the mixture. After 0.5 h the reaction was completed, the reaction was quenchedwith H2O (5 mL), and the resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (3 × 20mL). The organic phases were combined, washed with saturated brine, dried overanhydrous Na2SO4, and and concentrated in vacuo. The resultant residue was purifiedby flash chromatography (petroleum ether/ethyl acetate = 50/1-10/1) on silica gel toafford the desired product 2.
