13synthesis methods
-

Yield:6214-19-3 99%

Reaction Conditions:

with oxygen;9-(2-mesityl)-10-methylacridinium perchlorate in methanol at 20; for 12 h;Sealed tube;Schlenk technique;Irradiation;Green chemistry;

Steps:

General procedure for synthesis of methyl 4-methoxybenzenesulfinate 3a frommethyl 4-methoxybenzenesulfinate 10a.

An oven-dried schlenk tube was charged with a magnetic stir-bar, methyl 4-methoxybenzenesulfinate 10a (1.0 mmol), Acr+Mes ClO4- (5.0 mol%) and cappedwith septa. After evacuation under vacuum, a balloon filled with oxygen wasconnected to the Schlenk tube through the side arm and methanol 2a (3.0 mL) wasinjected in the reaction tube. The reaction mixture was irradiated with visible light(blue light emitting diodes (LEDs) 3.0 W) with vigorously stirring at roomtemperature for 12 h. After completion of the reaction, as indicated by TLC, the pureproduct 3a was obtained by flash column chromatography on silica gel usingpetroleum ether and ethyl acetate
