In a 2L four-neck flask equipped with a condenser, 1100 g of DMF, 273 g (2.0 mol) of ethyl 2-chloropropionate, 54 g of tetrabutylammonium bromide, 5.5 g of triethyl orthoformate and 255.2 g of potassium fluoride were added. The mixture was stirred and warmed to 100°C and reacted for 12 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was purified by distillation to give 176.3 g of ethyl 2-fluoropropionate with 99.5% purity and 66.5% yield. | [References]
