Methylamine (2.0 M in THF) (10.0 mL, 19.93 mmol) was added to a solution of 4-methylbenzene-1-sulfonyl chloride (1.9 g, 9.97 mmol) in dichloromethane (15 mL) at 0 °C, during which time a white precipitate formed. The suspension was stirred for 2 h, then the white solid was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 2.14 g crude product as white solid. Then the crude product was dissolved in EtOAc and washed by 15 % NaHCO3 solution and brine. The organic layer was dried by MgS04and filtered then concentrated under reduced pressure to give 1.82 g (99%) of title product. LC-MS m/z 185.9 (M+H)+, 0.65 min (ret. time).
